Secret Intimacy – Bhutan Deluxe Passionate Bhutan (10 nights 11 days)

Day 01. Arrive by Druk Air –Paro (Altitude 2250m)

During this flight one will enjoy the view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Mountains including the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari & Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan on clear weather. On arrival at Paro Airport a representative of Bhutan Soul Tour and Travel will receive and drive to the hotel.  After lunch, visit Ta Dzong former Watch Tower which now houses the National Museum and then visit Rinpung Dzong which houses the monastic school and the office of the civil administration.  Walk down crossing the Bhutanese typical wooden roofed bridge and drive towards the north to visit ruins of Drukgyel Dzong built in 1646   by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. From here one can see Mt. Jumolhari (mountain of goddesses. Alt. 7,329 m/ 24,092 ft) on clear weather.  Overnight at Le Meridien Paro Riverfront. 

Day 02.Paro- Excursion to Taktsang (Altitude 3120m): 

After early breakfast drive up to the Ramthangka, base camp of Taktsang and then hike up to the most famous monastery Taktsang the Tiger’s nest. Tea/coffee at the cafeteria. This magical monastery clings to the vertical granite cliff of 3,000 above the valley floor. It is believed that Guru meditated here in the 8th century. The disciples of Guru built the temple, which was later enlarged by Zhabdrung in the 17th century. After lunch descend to the base and drive to Le Meridien Paro Riverfront. 

Day 03. Paro-Bumthang: (Altitude 2800 m)

After breakfast drive to Paro airport and fly to Bumthang (35 minutes flying times) by Domestic airline.  

After lunch visit the followings sights: 

  • Jambay Lhakhang – Is a sacred monastery built in the 7th century by the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. It is one of the 108 monasteries built by him to subdue evil spirits in the Himalayan region. 
  • Kurjey Lhakhang (Kurjey means, “Body imprint”) – The temple to the right was built by MinjurTempa in 1652. It was built around the cave in which Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprint. 
  • Tamshing Lhakhang – This temple is also known as Tamshing Lhendrup Chholing (Temple of the Good Message). 

Day 04. Bumthang – Halt:

After breakfast, hike to Tharpaling (3600m) via Kiki la pass (3 hours walk approx.) Lunch at Tharpaling Monastery complex. Hoist prayer flag, visit Tharpling Monastery and drive to Gyetsa. Overnight at Chumey Nature Resort.

Day 05. Chumey – Trongsa (Total Km 68 Approx/ Altitude 2,200m):

After breakfast drive to Trongsa (2 hours drive)   Continue drive to Trongsa. Visit Trongsa Dzong – seat of the district administration, built in 1648. Also visit Tower of Trongsa, which has been converted into a museum from a watchtower that once guarded Trongsa Dzong. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06. Trongsa – Phobjakha (Total km 120 approx/ Altitude 2,900m):  

After breakfast, drive to Gangtey (5 hours drive approx).  On the way visit Chendebji Chorten- built in the style of the great Bodhanath Chorten of Nepal, was constructed by Tshering Wangchuk son of Yon-Say and the Mahasiddha Zhidag in accordance with the prophecy of the Second GangtengTulku Tenzin Lekpai Dhundrup in order to subdue harmful, anti religious demons. Continue drive to Phobjikha- is a bowl-shape valley on the western slopes of Black Mountain range. After lunch visit Gantey Goenpa as it is a major attraction with an old monastery date back to the 16 century. Overnight at Gangtey Goenpo Lodge.

Day 07. Phobjikha-Halt:

After breakfast, walk around the valley which is also the winter home to the rare black-necked cranes, which migrate from remote parts of Tibet, China and Siberia during winter to this valley.  Also visit some typical farm houses. Overnight will be at Gangtey Goenpa Lodge.

Day 08. Phobjikha-Punakha (Total km 78 Km Approx/ Alt 1310m): 

After breakfast drive to Punakha. On the way visit Chhimi Lhakhang. This was founded in 15 Century by Lama Dukpa Kunley also known as divine mad man. It is half hour walk across a local village and rice field. After lunch visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Zhabdrung. It is one of the most beautiful Dzong in the country. Overnight at Uma by Como, Punakha.

Day 09. Punakha- Halt:   

Drive upto suspension bridge and hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten that has great views of Punakha valley. This beautiful monument was built under the royal patronage of Her Majesty Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck, The Mother of the 5th King.  Walk down to the suspension bridge and drive to Uma by Como, Punakha. Afternoon at leisure/open program.

Day 10. Punakha – Thimphu. (Total km 87 Approx / Alt 2,350):

After breakfast drive to Thimphu.  Afternoon visit following places. 

  • Buddha Point/ Kuensel Phodrang – Is the largest Buddha statue in the country. From there one can get a good view of the Thimphu valley. Plant sapling at the Happiness Garden, Kuensel Phodrang.
  • Folk Heritage Museum – the house replicates a traditional farmhouse and is furnished, as it would have been about a century ago. Overnight at Le Meridien. 

Day 11.  Paro-Departure:  

After breakfast, drive to Paro international airport for your onward flight.   The representative of Bhutan Soul Tour and Travel will see off and bid farewell
